We sat down with Wes and asked him the following:
-
What do you like most about working at Kimmel & Associates?
I enjoy working here because the goal is to truly be a servant to the industries we serve. From the top down, there is a focus on making sure that success is measured by doing the right thing. -
What is one thing you learned early in your career that has made you successful?
One of our mantras here is, “Don’t kid yourself.” You can’t just hope that things are going to go smoothly during the search for a good candidate. You should check all of the boxes, make that extra call, check with that last reference on your list, and do things thoroughly on the front end. -
What can clients and candidates expect from you?
Quick results. I think that a sense of urgency is what my clients and candidates can expect when working with our firm. -
What makes you different from other recruiters in your industry?
Living in South Korea for nearly a decade was a great experience. It instilled a work ethic that our clients can clearly see in the results I bring to a search. -
Favorite quote?
“It’s all about the process.” - Nick Saban. There are so many factors in recruiting that are out of our control. Sticking to the process guarantees that success will match the effort you apply to the process of finding the best candidates. -
What causes are you passionate about?
We are very active as a company in volunteering our time to better our community. I’m active in tutoring the elderly/homeless in basic computer skills at our local library, and I will begin giving English lessons to Afghanistan refugees who have been placed in our town. -
Personal interests?
I enjoy both watching and playing sports. Although most games I play are simply pick-up games with friends, I still try to stay active in the weight room. Interior design is something I am passionate about because I think creating an inviting space can really change your mood/attitude on life. A great day would be an early-morning hike followed by brunch and hours of watching Alabama football with my family.
