We sat down with Guy and asked him the following:
-
What do you like most about working at Kimmel & Associates?
The challenge of finding “a needle in a haystack,” as well as developing long-term relationships with my clients and candidates. -
What is one thing you learned early in your career that has made you successful?
To keep digging – that could be digging to find a source for your client or digging into the background of a candidate during the vetting process. You never know what you might find when you dig. -
What is your greatest strength in your role?
Asking questions and then listening. The more you talk, the less you learn. -
What can clients and candidates expect from you?
Directness, honesty, and integrity. -
What makes you different from other recruiters in your industry?
I try to help both candidates and clients draw their own conclusions. I’m not here to sell anybody anything. I help them look at the opportunity before them and help THEM make a decision. -
Do you have a favorite quote, book, or movie?
The politically correct answer would be an inspirational movie like Rudy or Hoosiers or Secretariat, but Pulp Fiction is my favorite movie. I love the multiple storylines that overlap and come together at the end. The dialogue is fantastic. And what can you say about Samuel L. Jackson that’s not already stamped on his wallet? -
What causes are you passionate about?
I volunteer with an Asheville based non-profit organization called Consider Haiti. We help fight malnutrition in 4 remote villages in Haiti. We support a team of Haitian community health agents that identify malnourished children and help them get their weight up. We then provide them with a water filter so they have clean drinking water and then provide them with a goat which is part of our sustainable nutrition program. We also set up mobile medical clinics there when it’s safe enough for us to travel. www.considerhaiti.org -
